Centrelink Changes As of July 2006
Job seekers
aged 50-54 will no longer have the option of electing to undertake “full
time voluntary work’ of
32 hours per fortnight to fully meet activity test requirements. They will
have the same job search requirements as other job seekers.
People aged 55-64 will be able to volunteer for 30 hours per fortnight (it used to be 32 hours)
or a combination of volunteer work and part-time work. These job-seekers
will be encouraged to participate in Job Network.
People aged 50-64 will
be able to do 150 hours volunteering over 6 months (6 hours per week) in
combination with another activity. These job seekers will need to be referred
to Volunteering Illawarra by a Job Network member.
Parents and people with
disabilities may also be able to volunteer 150 hours over 6 months (6 hours
per week) as part of their Mutual Obligation.
