CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING
Also known as employer-sponsored volunteering or staff volunteering, corporate volunteers are paid employees who are supported by their employer to do voluntary work, usually in company time.
Corporate volunteering is not new. The concept began in the USA in the late 1970's and has
been a growing trend ever since. In Australia today about one third of large
corporations have formalised volunteer programs written into company policy – for
example Westpac, Ford Australia, National Australia Bank, Shell, The Body
Shop, NRMA, Lend Lease and Esprit to name a few.
Corporate volunteering can range from an individual worker’s volunteer effort through to a
work team or whole of company activity.
The CORPORATE Returns PROGRAM was initiated by Volunteering Illawarra and funded
by the NSW Government. Now local businesses can invest in the community and see the
returns!
